I have his ā€œGood Morningā€ in heavy rotation, so I rang up Philly legend Black Thought to discuss the new song (Swizz Beatz, Pusha T and Killer Mike are also featured). It’s a quick bit of audio (press play above), but we talked about Thought becoming more vulnerable and personal in his music, and his upcoming album, Streams Of Thought Vol. 3: Cane and Able (Passyunk/Republic) — it’s due Sept 18. Mr. Trotter also makes it clear that not only will there be another Roots album, his Streams Of Thought Vol. 4 is already done, and includes an iconic cast of guests. Check out ā€œMorningā€ ā¬‡ļø

No more ā€œYBNā€: Cordae connects with fellow new-gen leader Roddy Ricch for ā€œGifted,ā€ an excellent contender for one of hip-hop’s best songs of 2020. Visual directed by Chicago’s high-in-demand Cole Bennett.

Over the past few days we had the pleasure of hosting two virtual concerts on TIDAL and both artists brought their A games. No crowd, no problem. The potent performances are two clicks away.
